U.S. Marines of Gun 5, Mike Battery, 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment (Reinforced), Marine Rotational Force-Darwin conduct live fire using an M777A2 Howitzer during Exercise Koolendong at Bradshaw Field Training Area, NT, Australia, Aug. 28, 2021. The Battery conducted the live fire mission to provide indirect fire support to troops seizing an objective for the exercise. Exercises like Koolendong validate MRF-D’s and the Australian Defence Force’s ability to conduct expeditionary command and control operations, demonstrating the shared commitment to being ready to respond to a crisis or contingency in the Indo-Pacific region.
