Land forces commanders from across Europe to discuss modernization
Senior land force commanders, officers and representatives from approximately 40 European allied and partner nations, the U.S. and Canada met both in person and virtually for the Conference of European Armies at U.S. Army Europe and Africa Headquarters hosted by the U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. James C. McConville and supported by the U.S. Army Europe and Africa Commanding General Gen. Christopher Cavoli June 15-17.

Army Heritage Month spotlight on a military hero
Special Forces Master Sgt. Micheal B. Riley was killed during combat operations in the Uruzgan Province in Afghanistan June 25, 2019. He joined the Army in 2006 and deployed to Afghanistan 6 times; Iraq, Israel, Slovakia, Lebanon, Norway, Estonia, Republic of Georgia, Syria, Hungary, Poland and Turkey.

African Lion 2021- Army Birthday Celebration

Service Members from the U.S. and multinational partners celebrated the Army’s 246th Birthday June 14, 2021 in Agadir Morocco during Exercise African Lion. The U.S. and Morocco have been partners for over 200years and got to celebrate together by participating in a traditional cake cutting and performances by The U.S. Army Europe and Africa Band and Chorus.

Patriot Live Fire in Romania

Soldiers with the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command conduct a live fire exercise with Romanian allies here, June 9. Working with the militaries of other nations gives service members the opportunity to learn new skills as well as gain new perspectives. The 10th AAMDC is one part of a large and capable network of allied and partner integrated air and missile defense forces, who collectively stand ready to deploy, fight, and win decisively in high-intensity conflict.
Building Interoperability: 12th CAB and Hungarian attack helicopter units cross-train aviators
12th Combat Aviation Brigade pilots had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly an Mi-24 Hind helicopter with Hungarian Defense Force pilots at Solnok Air Base, Hungary.

Lt. Gen. R. Scott Dingle, the 45th Surgeon General of the United States Army and Commanding General, United States Army Medical Command, and Command Sgt. Maj. Diamond Hough, the Army Medical Command sergeant major, encourage everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
HOSPEX 21 Demonstrates Interoperability at the Highest Levels
From May 30 through June 4, 2021, the 30th Medical Brigade led multi-national troop response to a simulated battle scenario, including a mass casualty event, as a NATO medical evaluation team observed.

U.S. Army Soldiers from the Regimental Engineer Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment launched the Shadow Unmanned Aerial System over Totvazsony, Hungary. The Joker Platoon is providing reconnaissance for Soldiers participating in Saber Guardian.

405th AFSB’s Africa battalion provides multiple levels of support to AFRICOM
The 405th AFSB’s AFSBn-Africa provides one Logistics Civil Augmentation Program professional and one Strategic Planner to support Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa’s base operations support to Navy personnel and other elements in Africa.

Joint Allied Power Demonstration during Steadfast Defender 2021

13 allied NATO nations came together to execute a Joint Allied Power Demonstration in Cincu, Romania on June 1, 2021. Displays in the event included reconnaissance drones, snipers, special forces, remote EOD, close air support, and indirect fire from mortar teams. The event, a part of Steadfast Defender 2021, showed the readiness and response capabilities of the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force.

Saber Nation Supports Saber Guardian 21
Airmen assigned to the 52nd Medical Group at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, participated in the multinational exercise Saber Guardian 21 at Baumholder, Germany, May 24 to June 4.

African Lion 21 exercise begins with 7,800 troops in Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal
African Lion, U.S. Africa Command’s premier joint annual exercise, kicks off in Morocco, Tunisia and Senegal for its 17th iteration June 7.

U.S. Soldiers from 41st Field Artillery Brigade, conduct a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System live fire exercise as part of a HIMARS Rapid Infiltration exercise at Novo Selo Training Range, Bulgaria, June 1, 2021. This first-of-its-kind in Bulgaria exercise demonstrates the ability to rapidly deploy long-range precision fires and return to their point of origin within 24 hours. The LFX was in support of both the Fires Shock series of exercise and Saber Guardian 21. Saber Guardian 21 is a linked exercise of DEFENDER-Europe 21.

JOINT ALLIED POWER DEMONSTRATION DAY BRINGS TOGETHER NATO FORCES FROM 13 NATIONS TO DISPLAY CAPABILITIES
The Joint Allied Power Demonstration, the last major event of Exercise Steadfast Defender 2021, occurred at the Joint National Training Centre in Cincu, Romania on June 1, 2021. The event brought together NATO forces from 13 nations to demonstrate the rapid reaction and collective defence capabilities of the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force.
