Travis Herman, African Lion 26 noncommissioned officer development academics instructor and Intelligence and Sustainment Company first sergeant, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) speaks about the academics portion of AL26 at Southern Zone Headquarters, Agadir, Morocco, April 20, 2026. The instruction brought together subject matter experts and students from more than 40 nations to build joint planning skills and regional security knowledge in support of AL26. The exercise’s multinational academics engaged approximately 400 students across more than 20 military subjects, increasing a shared understanding of best practices.

As we are deep into Combined Resolve 26-7 here is a recap of the last iteration of Combined Resolve in February. U.S. and NATO forces joined together for Combined Resolve 26-05 at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany, Feb. 15-23, 2026. The exercise was designed to improve unit mobility and survivability, as well as strengthen joint force operations for large scale combat operations.

U.S. and Allied forces will conduct a series of exercises across the High North, Baltic region, and Poland from late April through May 2026, leveraging cutting-edge capabilities to demonstrate credible deterrence in the land domain. Known as Sword 26, this U.S. Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF)-led series of multinational exercises will focus on operationalizing NATO’s Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative (EFDI), highlighting the continued commitment to collective defense and security.

The Entry/Exit System (EES) is an automated IT system for registering non-EU nationals travelling for a short stay, each time they cross the external borders. EES will capture biometric data, such as fingerprints, facial image, and other travel information, gradually replacing the current system of passport stamping.
