U.S. Army NATO Brigade hosted a Supply Academy Jan. 23-27 in Sembach, Germany to providing training to supply specialists assigned to support NATO units across Europe.
U.S. Army Europe and Africa Celebrates Black History Month
Around 1.3 million African American service members served during World War II (1941-1945).
The Army story cannot be told without reflecting on the remarkable contributions made by Black Americans who have served and sacrificed in every conflict in our nation’s history, totaling more than 247 years of honorable service.

Sgt. Rebecca Call provides information on the upcoming training exercise, Dragoon Ready 23, near Hohenfels, Germany on Jan. 25, 2023.
It is designed to ensure readiness and train the regiment in its mission essential tasks in support of unified land operations to enhance proficiency and improve interoperability with NATO Allies. Exercise participants include approximately 2,500 U.S. Soldiers from the 2d Cavalry Regiment, 150 U.S. Soldiers from the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, and 150 service members from Italy and the United Kingdom.

MEDDAC-Bavaria sets the standard for medical readiness training
When it comes to readiness, specifically readiness of the medical force, MEDDAC-Bavaria sets the standard. Their newly created Medical Mobile Simulation Team-Europe was recently announced as winner of the U.S. Army Medical Command Annual Wolf Pack Award for FY22.

U.S. Soldiers with 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, improve their skills on newly updated unmanned aerial vehicle, RQ-11B or “The Raven”, in Smardan, Romania, 16 Jan. 2023. The Raven’s purposes are reconnaissance missions, call-for-fire missions and enhancing Soldiers' capabilities, leading to lower risk for Soldiers, fewer U.S. casualties and more successful missions.
Big Red One Band Plays in Europe
The 1st infantry Division band’s tour began after their arrival at a forward operating station in Poland on Nov. 20, 2022. Since then, their journey has taken them through town squares, concert halls and tents located throughout many Baltic states where U.S. Soldiers are stationed in support of NATO allies and partners.

Annual Overseas Housing Allowance Survey runs from 1 January to 31 March 2023. All Service members receiving OHA, except those sharing rent, are encouraged to participate.
Results directly impact the amount of housing allowance each service member receives, as the overseas housing allowance is a cost-reimbursement based allowance.

A NATO sniper's mindset

What does it take to lie in a hide site for days, covered in shrubbery, waiting to take the perfect shot?
Enter the mind of a sniper. Far from being just sharpshooters, snipers are also reconnaissance experts, trained observers who can blend in with their environment and gather data on targets. Should they need to, they can use their precision rifles to take long-range shots. This kind of missions require superhuman patience, concentration and a keen eye for detail.
A Norwegian sniper assigned to the NATO multinational battlegroup Lithuania takes us inside his mindset when he’s on the job. While in Lithuania, he’s learning how to integrate with his other NATO Allies through joint training.

Mendonca delivered more than 1,200 vehicles and pieces of equipment, including M1 Abrams main battle tanks, Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, and a range of wheeled vehicles belonging to the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division deployed to Europe, at the port in Vlissingen, Netherlands, on January 10, 2023.
Vlissingen Port Operations Showcase U.S.-Netherlands and Joint Force Interoperability
Soldiers from 21st TSC in coordination with the 598th Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, host nation support and commercial organizations, efficiently executing the reception, staging and onward movement of more than 1,200 vehicles and pieces of equipment belonging to the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Calvary Division deployed to Europe, at the port in Vlissingen, Netherlands.

Every year on the third Monday of January, the United States observes Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. The theme for this year’s observance was “A Day On, Not a Day Off.” Soldiers and civilian employees from U.S. Army NATO Brigade commemorated King’s life with an event that included a one-mile walk to honor the 1963 March on Washington lead by King to advocate for civil and economic rights for African-Americans.

U.S. Soldiers assigned to the 1st Infantry Division gathered to honor Sgt. 1st Class Jennifer Champagne, an Army musician and vocalist assigned to the 1 ID band as she was promoted to the rank of master sergeant on Dec. 29, 2022.

In 2022, faced with the most serious security situation in decades that threatens Euro-Atlantic peace and security. NATO stood strong; boosted collective defense with four new multinational battlegroups, now a total of eight NATO battlegroups defending territory from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. Finland and Sweden to join NATO, strengthening the bond that ties Europe and North America together. In 2022, NATO also adopted a new Strategic Concept, setting out NATO’s enduring purpose and its fundamental security tasks, and preparing the Alliance to better address the threats of today and tomorrow.
