German Army Major General Björn F. Schulz assumed his position as Deputy Commanding General – Integration of U.S. Army Europe and Africa in July 2025.
He most recently served as the Commanding General of the German Armored Forces School (Panzertruppenschule) in Munster.
Maj. Gen. Schulz joined the Bundeswehr in 1988 in Braunschweig. After basic training he joined the Panzergrenadier Batallion 22 (Panzergrenadierbataillon 22).
During his career Maj. Gen. Schulz has led armored forces at every echelon from squad to brigade. His notable operational commands include Commander of Armored Mechanized Infantry Battalion L92 (Panzergrenadierlehrbataillon 92) and Commanding General of the 12th Armored Brigade (Panzerbrigade 12 “Oberpfalz”) in Cham.
Maj. Gen. Schulz’s staff experience includes Operations and Plans Branch Chief at Army Headquarters in Koblenz, Course Director at the General Staff Officer Course (Führungsakadamie der Bundeswehr) in Hamburg, Strategy and Operations Branch Head at the Federal Ministry of Defense (Bundesministerium der Verteidigung) in Berlin and Chief of Staff for the First Armored Division (1. Panzerdivision) in Hanover.
Maj. Gen. Schulz deployed to the Balkans as a Battalion Commander in support of Kosovo Force (KFOR) peacekeeping operations. He later deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Resolute Support where he served as the Chief of Staff of Train Advise Assist Command – North in Mazar-e Sharif.
He holds a master’s degree in political science from the University of the German Armed Forces, Helmut-Schmidt-Universität in Hamburg.
Maj. General Schulz is married with two children.
