Major General Christopher R. Norrie assumed the position of Deputy Commanding General of U.S. Army Europe and Africa in October 2025.
Major General Norrie is a distinguished military graduate of Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and was commissioned as an Armor officer. He holds master’s degrees in business administration from Embry-Riddle University and in national security strategy from the National War College.
In his previous assignment he served as the Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia.
Major General Norrie’s other command assignments include Commander of C Company, later Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, and Operation Joint Forge, Bosnia and Herzegovina; Commander of the 6th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division; Commander of the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado, and Operation Atlantic Resolve, Poland; 25th Commander of Operations Group, National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California; and Commanding General for the 7th Army Training Command.
Major General Norrie’s other assignments include Director of the People First Task Force, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1, United States Army, Arlington, Virginia, Deputy Commanding General for Maneuver, 1st Cavalry Division; Director of the Chief of Staff of the Army's Coordination Group, Washington D.C.; Division G3 (Operations), 1st Armored Division; Secretary of the General Staff, 1st Cavalry Division; Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Commanding General (Maneuver), 1st Infantry Division; and Tank and Scout Platoon Leader, 4th Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division.
Major General Norrie has led Soldiers at all levels in Armor, Cavalry, and Mechanized units, to include service with multiple divisions and commands. He has deployed in support of named operations including Operation Joint Forge, Operation Atlantic Resolve, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
His military education includes the U.S. Army Armor Officer Basic Course, Infantry Officer Advanced Course, and the Command and General Staff College.
Major General Norrie’s awards and decorations include the Army Distinguished Service Medal with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Legion of Merit 3 bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Meritorious Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
Major General Norrie is supported by his wife and two children, who have been a constant source of strength and encouragement throughout his career.
