Chief of Staff

Major General Ronald R. Ragin

Major General Ronald R. Ragin assumed duties as the Chief of Staff of U.S. Army Europe and Africa on 18 August 2025.

Major General Ragin's command assignments include: Troop Commander, Combat Support Squadron,11th Armored Calvary Regiment (Fulda); Company Commander, 225th Forward Support Battalion, Division Support Command (DISCOM), 25th Infantry Division (Light); Battalion Commander, Group Support Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne); Squadron Commander, Support Squadron; United States Army Special Operations Command (Airborne); Brigade Commander, 4th Division Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Division; Commander, U.S Army Operational Test Command; and Commander, 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, 3rd Armored Corps, and Commanding General, 21st Theater Sustainment Command.

Major General Ragin has served in key staff assignments in the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment (Fulda, Germany); 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault); 25th Infantry Division; 7th Fleet Command Ship (USS Blue Ridge); United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM); Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC); and United States Army Materiel Command.

Major General Ragin’s education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Texas, a Master of Science Degree from the Naval War College in Strategic Studies, a Master of Arts Degree from Troy University in International Relations, and a PhD from Walden University in Public Policy. He completed the Harvard National Security Fellowship program and is an Alumni of the Harvard John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Major General Ragin has led Soldiers at all levels in Airborne, Light, Heavy, and Special Operations units. He held multiple Joint, Interagency, and Coalition assignments. He deployed globally fourteen times to include nine combat deployments, in support of named and unnamed operations.
