About Arctic Shock

Arctic Shock is a combined U.S. and Norwegian exercise supporting the National Arctic Strategy that enhances multi-combatant command relationships, airborne interoperability, and Arctic capabilities.

The exercise takes place from March 18 to 22, 2024, in Bardufoss, Norway, with around 150 U.S. Soldiers from the 11th Airborne Division and around 100 soldiers from the Norwegian Armed Forces participating.

The exercise consists of an over-the-pole movement from Alaska to Norway, an airborne jump, and a field training exercise focused on cold-weather capabilities demonstrating the U.S. commitment to defend the High North.

Texas National Guard members distribute water to Ellington Field and Houston, Texas February 20, 2021. Aviators from both the Texas Air National Guard and Texas Army National Guard flying C-130s, UH-60 Blackhawks and CH-47 Chinook helicopters worked around the clock for several days to deliver more than 40,000 cases of water to areas with no access to clean water. The Texas National Guard, working with the Texas Division of Emergency Management and numerous other agencies, first responders, county officials and volunteers delivered millions of cases of water, food and other commodities to Texans in need after Winter Storm 2021 left millions without power or water.
