About Arctic Shock

Arctic Shock is a combined U.S. and Norwegian exercise supporting the National Arctic Strategy that enhances multi-combatant command relationships, airborne interoperability, and Arctic capabilities. 

The exercise takes place from March 18 to 22, 2024, in Bardufoss, Norway, with around 150 U.S. Soldiers from the 11th Airborne Division and around 100 soldiers from the Norwegian Armed Forces participating. 

The exercise consists of an over-the-pole movement from Alaska to Norway, an airborne jump, and a field training exercise focused on cold-weather capabilities demonstrating the U.S. commitment to defend the High North.

U.S. Marines from 2d Reconnaissance Battalion, 2d Marine Division, hosted Dutch Marines from the Marine Squadron Caribbean to conduct Exercise Caribbean Urban Warrior 2023 at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, from March 6 to April 3, 2023. Caribbean Urban Warrior is an exercise where U.S. Marines from II Marine Expeditionary Force and Dutch Marines from the Marine Squadron Caribbean train together to maintain strong partnership and enhance their warfighting capability. During the exercise, units from II Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Special Operations Command supported with air assets, military working dogs, first aid, breaching, boat operations, small unmanned aerial systems, and Assault Amphibious Vehicles.
