About Arctic Shock

Arctic Shock is a combined U.S. and Norwegian exercise supporting the National Arctic Strategy that enhances multi-combatant command relationships, airborne interoperability, and Arctic capabilities. 

The exercise takes place from March 18 to 22, 2024, in Bardufoss, Norway, with around 150 U.S. Soldiers from the 11th Airborne Division and around 100 soldiers from the Norwegian Armed Forces participating. 

The exercise consists of an over-the-pole movement from Alaska to Norway, an airborne jump, and a field training exercise focused on cold-weather capabilities demonstrating the U.S. commitment to defend the High North.

On October 19, 2019, the Soldiers of 3rd Battalion, 13th Field Artillery Regiment, 75th Field Artillery Brigade, Fort Sill, OK, traveled to Little Rock, Arkansas to perform the as the funeral detail for Army Cpl. Jerry Garrison, an Arkansas soldier who was reported missing in action in 1950 during the Korean War.

Mrs. Alice Pearson, Cpl. Garrisons younger sister, was present to receive his remains.

On December 2, 1950, Cpl. Garrison was reported missing in action after his unit was attacked near the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea.

Cpl. Garrison was an infantryman assigned to Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division.
