About Arctic Shock

Arctic Shock is a combined U.S. and Norwegian exercise supporting the National Arctic Strategy that enhances multi-combatant command relationships, airborne interoperability, and Arctic capabilities. 

The exercise takes place from March 18 to 22, 2024, in Bardufoss, Norway, with around 150 U.S. Soldiers from the 11th Airborne Division and around 100 soldiers from the Norwegian Armed Forces participating. 

The exercise consists of an over-the-pole movement from Alaska to Norway, an airborne jump, and a field training exercise focused on cold-weather capabilities demonstrating the U.S. commitment to defend the High North.

More than 3,800 Soldiers and Airmen of the Arizona National Guard gather alongside families, friends, state partners, and leaders at Sloan Park, Mesa, Arizona during the Arizona National Guard 2023 Muster and Celebration of Service on December 3. The Arizona National Guard partners with Kazakhstan and Oman as part of the state partnership program. The muster is a patriotic tradition that dates back to the 1600s militia and symbolizes the readiness and preparedness of the Arizona Guardsmen. Now happening every four years, the muster provides accountability of our militia to the Governor of Arizona and honors the service and sacrifice of our military community.
