Yuma Proving Ground’s Youth and Child Services kicked off the Month of the Military Child with a parade this morning. YPG Commander Col. John Nelson and Garrison Manager Kenneth Musselwhite signed a proclamation recognizing the observance. The 2024 theme is “Military Child and Youth: brave, fearless and resilient.”

Following the proclamation signing, children from the Child Development Center and PFC James D. Price Elementary School marched the streets of YPG wearing their superhero costumes because military children are superheroes.

They were cheered on as they walked by Soldiers from the Chapel, Medical Clinic, and Airborne Test Force. Many parents and community members, including representatives from Army Community Services, Michael’s Military Housing, the Commissary and Candlewood Suites: IHG Army Hotel also greeted the children. McGruff the Crime Dog and Sparky the Fire Dog mingled with the children, too.
