The National Mounted Warrior Museum at Fort Cavazos, Texas, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 18, 2024, marking the completion of Phase 1 construction. Located just outside the main gate, the 17-acre facility features over 12,000 square feet of permanent gallery space, interactive exhibits, and displays of tanks, aircraft, and modern fighting vehicles. The museum honors the legacy of mounted warriors by preserving their history and sharing the evolution of mounted warfare from the U.S. Army’s inception to the present. A joint effort between the U.S. Army and the National Mounted Warfare Foundation, the museum is free and open to the public without a visitor pass. After more than a decade of planning, the museum’s construction was completed in 2021, gifted to the Army in 2022, and is set for its grand opening on September 18, 2024.
