March 23, 2012 | 1:07
A maritime demonstration of the Active Denial System was conducted in April 2006 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. The Active Denial System is an advanced, directed energy, counter-personnel non-lethal weapon. The ADS projects a focused beam of 95GHz millimeter waves at a range of up to 1,000 meters to induce an intolerable heating sensation on an adversary’s skin, repelling the individual with minimal risk of injury.
