July 7, 2014 | 1:00
Hawaii Army National Guard Soldiers from B/1-171 Aviation, are gaining 10 CH-47F helicopters from Guard units from around the nation, as their recent deployment to Afghanistan draws to a close. Hawaii’s helicopters where distributed to the unit they relived in Afghanistan in 2013. This type of resource shifting is common, as units rotate on equipment that is currently in service downrange. The CH-47s arrive unassembled at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, where crews rebuild and test the aircraft over a three-day period. The cargo helicopters are then flown to Wheeler Army Airfield their local base of operations. Also available in high definition.
