Oct. 23, 2023 | 3:47
U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Robert B. Sofge Jr., commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa, participates in the Beirut bombing memorial in Lyon, France on Oct. 21, 2023. The Beirut bombing memorial commemorates the 40th anniversary of the attacks conducted against the French and Americans. This event occurs every five years, and notably, it’s the first time a U.S. Marine general has attended in a decade. Together, the French and U.S. Marines honor their comrades who served side by side in Lebanon in 1983, reinforcing the enduring bond between these two nations. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Lance Cpl.
