Allied Spirit is a U.S. Army exercise for multinational partners, conducted at 7th Army Training Command training areas at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, Germany.
 
Unlike other USAREUR-AF exercises, which feature U.S. brigade combat teams in a lead role augmented by Allies and partners, Allied Spirit places an Allied unit as the main training audience. While U.S.-led, this exercise will develop and enhance NATO and key partner interoperability and readiness across specified warfighting functions.

Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class James Rutherford, assigned to Port Operations onboard Navy Support Facility Diego Garcia, speaks on the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal he was recently awarded. Rutherford showed initiative and situational awareness by providing safety and comfort to a team member that was injured during an evolution. NSF Diego Garcia provides logistic, service, recreational and administrative support to U.S. and allied forces forward deployed to the Indian Ocean and Arabian Gulf.
