Allies Spirit

Allied Spirit is a U.S. Army exercise for multinational partners, conducted at 7th Army Training Command training areas at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, Germany.

Unlike other USAREUR-AF exercises, which feature U.S. brigade combat teams in a lead role augmented by Allies and partners, Allied Spirit places an Allied unit as the main training audience. While U.S.-led, this exercise will develop and enhance NATO and key partner interoperability and readiness across specified warfighting functions.

B-Roll Package: 173rd Airborne Brigade Paratroopers Participate In Falcon Leap 23 and Market Garden 79
173rd Airborne Brigade
Sept. 15, 2023 | 2:05
This B-roll package features U.S. Army paratroopers assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade as they participate in Falcon Leap 23 and Market Garden 79 alongside Allied paratroopers at Eindhoven Airport and Ginkelse Heide, Netherlands, Sept. 15-16, 2023. These paratroopers can be seen donning various parachutes, being inspected by Allied jumpmasters, boarding and exiting various aircraft, and landing on Ginkelse Heide drop zone.

Operation Market Garden was one of the largest airborne operations of World War II and in American history which was aimed at liberating the Netherlands and gaining a foothold into Nazi Germany by crossing the Maas, Waal, and ultimately the Rhine River.

Falcon Leap is NATO's largest technical airborne exercise where approximately 1,000 paratroopers from 12 countries all over the world perform daily paratroop and/or air drops whilst training with each other’s equipment for two weeks. The exercise gives paratroopers the opportunity to train together and learn from one another, preparing them to operate in collaboration with each other.

The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.
