Allies Spirit

Allied Spirit is a U.S. Army exercise for multinational partners, conducted at 7th Army Training Command training areas at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, Germany.

Unlike other USAREUR-AF exercises, which feature U.S. brigade combat teams in a lead role augmented by Allies and partners, Allied Spirit places an Allied unit as the main training audience. While U.S.-led, this exercise will develop and enhance NATO and key partner interoperability and readiness across specified warfighting functions.

349th Air Mobility Wing

Upon moving from Hamilton Air Force Base, Calif., to Travis AFB, Calif., on July 25, 1969, the Reserve Citizen Airmen of the then-349th Military Airlift Wing began flying the C-141 Starlifter, and thus entered the age of the jet engine cargo aircraft. For more than 37 years the men and women of the 349th worked tirelessly to hone their skills in the C-141 so that when they were called upon, they were ready for whatever lay ahead. From supplying the war efforts in Southeast Asia and the Middle East with troops and cargo, to bringing home the wounded, former prisoners of war and refugees, they served with spirit and steadfast commitment.
