Allies Spirit

Allied Spirit is a U.S. Army exercise for multinational partners, conducted at 7th Army Training Command training areas at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, Germany.

Unlike other USAREUR-AF exercises, which feature U.S. brigade combat teams in a lead role augmented by Allies and partners, Allied Spirit places an Allied unit as the main training audience. While U.S.-led, this exercise will develop and enhance NATO and key partner interoperability and readiness across specified warfighting functions.

Oct. 12, 2021 | 6:52
Italian Air Force Col. Fabio Martin, Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC) Italian Air Force Senior National Representative, talks about his experience in the Afghanistan Non-combatant Evacuation Operations (NEO) for Operation Allies Refuge (OAR) at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. Col. Martin coordinated Italian Air Forces through Kuwait to assist NEO from the CAOC. Operation Allies Refuge was the largest NEO airlift in U.S. history evacuating over 124,000 people in the span of 17 days. When the first C-17 Globemaster III took off from the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul and landed at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, the base became the primary hub of transit for Afghanistan evacuees.
