Allies Spirit

Allied Spirit is a U.S. Army exercise for multinational partners, conducted at 7th Army Training Command training areas at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, Germany.

Unlike other USAREUR-AF exercises, which feature U.S. brigade combat teams in a lead role augmented by Allies and partners, Allied Spirit places an Allied unit as the main training audience. While U.S.-led, this exercise will develop and enhance NATO and key partner interoperability and readiness across specified warfighting functions.

Purple Up! For Military Kids Day at the Oklahoma State Capitol
Fort Sill Public Affairs
April 15, 2024 | 2:13
Fort Sill representatives joined Altus Air Force Base, Tinker Air Force Base and Vance Air Force Base representatives at the Oklahoma State Capitol on April 15, 2024 to support the approval of Resolution 8, which designated April 15 as “Purple Up! For Military Kids Day” in Oklahoma as a way to recognize the sacrifices made by military families and the important role military children play in the armed forces community.

April is the Month of the Military Child, which was established in 1986 by former Defense Secretary Casper Weinberger. Purple is used as the color to signify Military Kids Day because the color indicates all branches of the military are supported. Air Force blue, Army green, Navy blue, Marine red and Coast Guard blue all combine to create the color purple.

Fort Sill representatives included Ms. Julia Sibilla, Fort Sill Deputy Garrison Commander; Lt. Col. Dan Threlkeld, Fires Center of Excellence Commanders Planning Group Director; Sybille McKay, Fort Sill School Liaison Officer; America Moseby, Fort Sill Congressional Liaison; and Virginia Aid, Fort Sill Community Relations Liaison.
