Allies Spirit

Allied Spirit is a U.S. Army exercise for multinational partners, conducted at 7th Army Training Command training areas at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, Germany.

Unlike other USAREUR-AF exercises, which feature U.S. brigade combat teams in a lead role augmented by Allies and partners, Allied Spirit places an Allied unit as the main training audience. While U.S.-led, this exercise will develop and enhance NATO and key partner interoperability and readiness across specified warfighting functions.

Interviews with SSBN Submariners: Making Deterrent Patrols
Naval History and Heritage Command
March 7, 2021 | 4:17
Active-duty and ballistic missile submariners explain strategic deterrent patrols on ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs), including the alternating crew system, life and work during patrols, and differences between SSBN patrols and fast attack submarine operations.

These interviews were conducted by the U.S. Naval Undersea Museum in 2016 for use in the museum’s new long-term exhibit “Preserving Peace: The Navy’s Strategic Deterrence Program.” The U.S. Naval Undersea Museum is one of ten official U.S. Navy museums within the Naval History and Heritage Command.
