Allies Spirit

Allied Spirit is a U.S. Army exercise for multinational partners, conducted at 7th Army Training Command training areas at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, Germany.

Unlike other USAREUR-AF exercises, which feature U.S. brigade combat teams in a lead role augmented by Allies and partners, Allied Spirit places an Allied unit as the main training audience. While U.S.-led, this exercise will develop and enhance NATO and key partner interoperability and readiness across specified warfighting functions.

West Loch Project Video Story
Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency
Nov. 4, 2024 | 3:33
Video story on the West Loch Project, an on-going effort by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) to identify the service members associated with the West Loch Disaster. On May 21, 1944, a devasting ordnance accident in the West Loch of Pearl Harbor wounded hundreds and killed at least 130 service members, making it one of the most severe non-combat disasters in U.S. military history. Those that couldn’t be identified were buried as unknowns at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii. DPAA is actively disinterring those remains in order to achieve the fullest possible accounting. Approximately 82 service members are still unaccounted for from the tragedy.
