Allies Spirit

Allied Spirit is a U.S. Army exercise for multinational partners, conducted at 7th Army Training Command training areas at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, Germany.

Unlike other USAREUR-AF exercises, which feature U.S. brigade combat teams in a lead role augmented by Allies and partners, Allied Spirit places an Allied unit as the main training audience. While U.S.-led, this exercise will develop and enhance NATO and key partner interoperability and readiness across specified warfighting functions.

In October 2018, a convoy of 71 Foxhound, Husky and Landrover vehicles from the 1st Battalion, Royal Irish Regiment, 32 Regiment Royal Artillery and 1st Battalion Lancashire Regiment of the British Army crossed the famous Øresund Bridge, which connects Denmark and Sweden. The bridge-crossing was part of their 2,000-km journey from the Hook of Holland to Norway, where they will participate in exercise Trident Juncture. The convoy’s move through northern Europe tested how efficiently soldiers and equipment can move between European countries. It also tested customs, border regulations and infrastructure's ability to cope with rapid and heavy troop movements. Trident Juncture 18 is NATO's largest exercise since the Cold War. Around 50,000 personnel from NATO Allies and partner countries will test their ability to operate together to defend our populations and territories and deter potential adversaries. Footage includes various interviews with British Army personnel involved in the convoy’s road move from the Hook of Holland to Norway.
