Allies Spirit

Allied Spirit is a U.S. Army exercise for multinational partners, conducted at 7th Army Training Command training areas at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, Germany.

Unlike other USAREUR-AF exercises, which feature U.S. brigade combat teams in a lead role augmented by Allies and partners, Allied Spirit places an Allied unit as the main training audience. While U.S.-led, this exercise will develop and enhance NATO and key partner interoperability and readiness across specified warfighting functions.

Improved Ribbon Bridge (IRB)
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center
Sept. 7, 2016 | 1:06
A team of engineers, scientists and student interns from ERDC’s laboratories recently instrumented an Improved Ribbon Bridge river crossing operation on the Arkansas River (July 2016). The annual exercise, spearheaded by the 467th Engineer Battalion, involved four Army and Marine bridging companies. The troops weren’t the only one learning from the experience: our Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory Field Data Collection Branch instrumented the bridge with advanced sensors and mapped the bathymetry, currents and water levels of the river. This high-resolution data will validate ERDC's dynamic, 3D model of the IRB to inform anchorage system requirements and tradespace analyses within ERDC's Engineered Resilient Systems.
