Allies Spirit

US Army Europe Best Warrior Logo

Allied Spirit is a U.S. Army exercise for multinational partners, conducted at 7th Army Training Command training areas at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, Germany.

Unlike other USAREUR-AF exercises, which feature U.S. brigade combat teams in a lead role augmented by Allies and partners, Allied Spirit places an Allied unit as the main training audience. While U.S.-led, this exercise will develop and enhance NATO and key partner interoperability and readiness across specified warfighting functions.

Military couple reunion video
U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence
Jan. 14, 2019 | 1:03
2LT Jordan Pruitt, Army Medical Specialist Corps officer currently attending in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at the Health Readiness Center of Excellence (#HRCoE) had a unexpected surprise during his classroom training when his wife 2LT Jamie Douglas, a Medical Platoon Leader/ Squadron Medical Officer stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, returned from an 8 month deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. We thank this dual-military couple and all Soldiers and Families for their service and sacrifice.

BACKGROUND:

The young couple are high school sweethearts who met and graduated from Robert G. Cole High School in San Antonio. Both come from military families and graduated, and received an ROTC commission, from Baylor University in Waco Texas. The couple then attended Basic Officer Leadership at Joint Base San Antonio/Fort Sam Houston, Texas at the Health Readiness Center of Excellence (HRCOE) from January-March 2018. Upon graduation from basic officer training the wife was assigned to Fort Hood and deployed with her unit in May 2018. The husband stayed at JBSA for this follow-on training. The surprise reunion was made possible by Douglas' mother. Her Mother, an Active Duty Colonel (COL Monica Douglas) is the Director of the AMEDD Personnel Proponent Directorate currently serving at the Army medical training school where the husband (2LT Jordan Pruitt) attends Army Medical Training. COL Douglas helped her daughter surprise her son-in-law and drove to Fort Hood to pick-up her daughter without the husband knowing, just so that he could be surprised in class. COL Douglas also indicated that she didn’t want her son-in-law to have to miss training to drive to Fort Hood since he just started this phase of training last week. This dual-military couple has been married for nearly a year and are enrolled in the Married Army Couples Program (MACP). By February Garner will be reassigned to JBSA/Fort Sam Houston to be closer to her husband. Their immediate plans include planning the formal wedding ceremony that they never got to have.
