About African Lion

African Lion 25 is U.S. Africa Command's largest, premier, annual exercise, hosted across Morocco, Ghana, Senegal and Tunisia. This joint, all-domain, multi-component, and multinational exercise includes more than 10,000 participants from more than twenty nations, including contingents from NATO. African Lion aims to strengthen interoperability among participants and build readiness to respond to crises and contingencies in Africa and around the world.

The exercise will include a command post exercise, field training exercises, a live-fire demonstration, and humanitarian civic assistance program events. Additionally, humanitarian civic assistance missions will feature a combination of medical, dental and veterinary assistance and exchanges across Morocco, Ghana and Senegal.

241028-N-XO158-1001 MEDITERRANEAN SEA (Oct. 28, 2024) AV-8B Harrier jets assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 365 (Reinforced) depart and return from the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) in support of a long range maritime strike event as part of Neptune Strike 2024-2 (NEST 24-2), Oct. 28, 2024, in the Mediterranean Sea. Wasp is supporting NEST 24-2 while on a scheduled deployment to the U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa (NAVEUR-NAVAF) area of operations as the flagship of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group (WSP ARG)-24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Special Operations Capable (SOC) in support of U.S., Allied, and partner interests in the region, including in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, to continue promoting regional stability and deterring aggression.
