About African Lion

African Lion 25 is U.S. Africa Command's largest, premier, annual exercise, hosted across Morocco, Ghana, Senegal and Tunisia. This joint, all-domain, multi-component, and multinational exercise includes more than 10,000 participants from more than twenty nations, including contingents from NATO. African Lion aims to strengthen interoperability among participants and build readiness to respond to crises and contingencies in Africa and around the world.

The exercise will include a command post exercise, field training exercises, a live-fire demonstration, and humanitarian civic assistance program events. Additionally, humanitarian civic assistance missions will feature a combination of medical, dental and veterinary assistance and exchanges across Morocco, Ghana and Senegal.

Staff Sgt. Kevin Nguyen's Thanksgiving Greeting to Westminster, CA

Staff Sgt. Keven Nguyen, a shooter/instructor with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit's International Rifle Team, sends his Thanksgiving Day greeting back home to Westminster, California.

Nguyen, who is also a member of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program, has won several National and International medals. Most recently, he won the Gold Medal in the R3 Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone event during the Para Shooting Sports Grand Prix. At the same competition in 2017, he claimed the Silver Medal in both the R6 Mixed 50m Prone event and the R3 Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone event.

The Westminster, California native has been in the U.S. Army since 2011 and served in Afghanistan, time that included him being awarded the Purple Heart.

As of last month, Nguyen won the title of USAMU's Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter.
