KITTERY, Maine (April 10, 2024): That's a wrap on the 2023-2024 SeaPerch competition season for the Seacoast area! This year's theme centered around Deep-Sea Exploration. As stated by Robonation, "ROVs are necessary to aid researchers in exploring the harsh environments that surround hydrothermal vents where extreme temperatures and pressures, toxic chemicals, and reduced visibility are the norm. The 2024 International SeaPerch Challenge was inspired by the wealth of information that can be gathered by exploring deep-sea geysers." The regional competition held at the University of New Hampshire was a qualifying event for the International competition. Congratulations to the three teams who will be representing the Seacoast at the upcoming competition in Maryland! Thank you to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard STEM Outreach volunteers who supported this event! (U.S. Navy video by Joel Messer and Jordon Johnson/released)
