Video footage of an element of the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion (Assault), 147th Aviation Regiment, 64th Troop Command, that’s assisting the California Army National Guard battle wildfires in California’s worst fire season in state history. Includes interviews by:
Chief Warrant Officer 3 Andrew Wickland, 147th pilot in command;
Chief Warrant Officer 4 Mike Tomblin, 147th pilot in command;
Sgt Bryson Kamps, 147th crew chief; and Sgt. Zachary Hoy, 147th crew chief.
Two teams of UH-60M Black Hawks arrived in California early September 2020. Since then they have been instrumental, flying over the Creek Fire and SQF Complex Fire in Central California, dropping water from 660-gallon firefighting buckets over wildfires. Four pilots, four crew chiefs and about a half-dozen maintenance crews make up the Wisconsin team that has dropped more than 52,000 gallons of water in less than two weeks.
