About African Lion

African Lion 25 is U.S. Africa Command's largest, premier, annual exercise, hosted across Morocco, Ghana, Senegal and Tunisia. This joint, all-domain, multi-component, and multinational exercise includes more than 10,000 participants from more than twenty nations, including contingents from NATO. African Lion aims to strengthen interoperability among participants and build readiness to respond to crises and contingencies in Africa and around the world.

The exercise will include a command post exercise, field training exercises, a live-fire demonstration, and humanitarian civic assistance program events. Additionally, humanitarian civic assistance missions will feature a combination of medical, dental and veterinary assistance and exchanges across Morocco, Ghana and Senegal.

Iron Fist 25 | 31st MEU conducts bilateral short bay range
31st Marine Expeditionary Unit

U.S. Marines with Echo Company, Battalion Landing Team 2/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force soldiers with the 1st Amphibious Rapid Deployment Regiment, conduct a bilateral live-fire short bay range at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 22, 2025. The training was conducted to test and evaluate marksmanship capabilities and to further strengthen relations with the JGSDF during Iron Fist 25. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase interoperability and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the JGSDF, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force, ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
