About African Lion

African Lion 25 is U.S. Africa Command's largest, premier, annual exercise, hosted across Morocco, Ghana, Senegal and Tunisia. This joint, all-domain, multi-component, and multinational exercise includes more than 10,000 participants from more than twenty nations, including contingents from NATO. African Lion aims to strengthen interoperability among participants and build readiness to respond to crises and contingencies in Africa and around the world.

The exercise will include a command post exercise, field training exercises, a live-fire demonstration, and humanitarian civic assistance program events. Additionally, humanitarian civic assistance missions will feature a combination of medical, dental and veterinary assistance and exchanges across Morocco, Ghana and Senegal.

Olympic Hopeful Shout Outs - SPC Tim Sherry
U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit

Spc. Timothy Sherry, a Highlands Ranch, Colorado native, is an instructor/shooter with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit at Fort Benning, Georgia.

This Soldier competes on the international level in both 10m Air Rifle and 50m Three-Position Rifle.

Before joining the Army in 2017 as an infantryman, Sherry graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. While in college, he was a six-time All-American, the 2014 NCAA Champion, and the 2015 Conference Champion with the UAF Rifle Team.

Since becoming a member of the USAMU, Sherry has won a number of titles, including the: 2018 Gold medal at the CMP Three-Position Rifle Aggregate National Championships, 2019 Silver medal at the USA Shooting National Air Rifle Championships and 2019 Gold medal at the Pan American Three-Position Rifle Championships.

Sherry is currently seeking a spot on Team USA for the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo in the 50m Smallbore Rifle event.
