About African Lion

African Lion 25 is U.S. Africa Command's largest, premier, annual exercise, hosted across Morocco, Ghana, Senegal and Tunisia. This joint, all-domain, multi-component, and multinational exercise includes more than 10,000 participants from more than twenty nations, including contingents from NATO. African Lion aims to strengthen interoperability among participants and build readiness to respond to crises and contingencies in Africa and around the world.

The exercise will include a command post exercise, field training exercises, a live-fire demonstration, and humanitarian civic assistance program events. Additionally, humanitarian civic assistance missions will feature a combination of medical, dental and veterinary assistance and exchanges across Morocco, Ghana and Senegal.

Marshall Center for Security Studies 30th Anniversary

The Marshall Center for Security Studies celebrates its 30th anniversary at the Pete Burke Community Center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, September 15, 2023. The community members joined together for an afternoon of outdoor activities, including a cornhole championship, music and a barbeque.

The George C. Marshall Center for Security Studies is an international security and defense security institute and aids in the German-American partnership.

Barre R. Seguin has been the Director of the George C. Marshall Center since 2021. He served over 31 years to the U.S. Air Force and retired in 2020 as a major general.

Dr. Katrin Bastian is a professor at the George C. Marshall Center and teaches research and policy analysis. She received her Ph.D. in International Relations at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. She has taught at the center since 2020.
