About African Lion

African Lion 25 is U.S. Africa Command's largest, premier, annual exercise, hosted across Morocco, Ghana, Senegal and Tunisia. This joint, all-domain, multi-component, and multinational exercise includes more than 10,000 participants from more than twenty nations, including contingents from NATO. African Lion aims to strengthen interoperability among participants and build readiness to respond to crises and contingencies in Africa and around the world.

The exercise will include a command post exercise, field training exercises, a live-fire demonstration, and humanitarian civic assistance program events. Additionally, humanitarian civic assistance missions will feature a combination of medical, dental and veterinary assistance and exchanges across Morocco, Ghana and Senegal.

Coast Guard offloads $12 million in cocaine in San Juan, Puerto Rico, following interdiction of drug smuggling go-fast in the Caribbean Sea

The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Napier (WPC-1115) offloads 430 kilograms of cocaine at Sector San Juan Aug. 5, 2020, which have a wholesale value of more than $12 million. The Coast Guard Cutter Richard Dixon (WPC-1113) apprehended two smugglers and seized 21 bales of cocaine after interdicting a go-fast vessel in the Caribbean Sea Aug. 2, 2020. The interdiction was the result of multi-agency efforts in support of U.S. Southern Command's enhanced counter-narcotics operations in the Western Hemisphere, the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program and the Caribbean Corridor Strike Force (CCSF).
