Combat medics from 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry Regiment and 1st Battalion, 186th Infantry Regiment of the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team conduct medevac procedures for ambulatory patients with the U.S. Army Air Ambulance Detachment at Yakima Training Center, Washington, April 5, 2025.

The video captures 18 68W combat medics led by 2LT McDonald as they execute the complete medevac process for ambulatory casualties (patients able to walk under their own power). The training sequence demonstrates field treatment of injuries, proper 9-line medevac request procedures, patient escort protocols, and hot loading of ambulatory patients onto UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters while the aircraft maintains power.
The footage shows medics coordinating with helicopter crew chiefs as they safely load patients into the aircraft before the Black Hawks depart the landing zone, simulating urgent medical evacuation in a tactical environment.

Throughout Annual Training, these dedicated medics have provided essential support at all ranges, ensuring immediate medical response capability during weapons qualification and live fire exercises. The training prepares them for potential medical emergencies during the unit's upcoming deployment to the Horn of Africa.

The U.S. Army Air Ambulance Detachment stationed at Yakima Training Center is responsible for all medevac operations at the installation. It has been instrumental in providing realistic aeromedical evacuation training for the deploying medical personnel.
