B-Roll Package of the restoration of the Palo Seco Power Plant
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District
March 13, 2019 | 20:32
B-Roll Package of the restoration of the Palo Seco Power Plant, San Juan, Puerto Rico, March 08, 2019, one year and six months after Hurricane Maria devastated the island and knocked down 80 percent of the power grid.
The Unified Command Group (UCG), which is comprised of senior representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority worked together to help restore the power plant. Together they decided to cease operation of the two power generation units incrementally and decommission the two temporary mega-generators at the Palo Seco site.
The demobilization of the mega-generators is a positive step in the ongoing recovery process on the island. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers video by Public Affairs Specialist Brigida I. Sanchez)
