Model of USS Newport News (CA-148) arrives at Naval Museum
Hampton Roads Naval Museum
Oct. 7, 2019 | 1:35
A short video showcasing the arrival of a model of the Des-Moines Class Heavy Cruiser USS Newport News (CA-148) into the gallery of the Hampton Roads Naval Museum. The large model was lifted and moved into place by a contingent of sailors from the Ticonderoga-Class Guided Missile Cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG-64), and continues a strong partnership between the naval museum and the command. The model is incorporated into a larger exhibit “The Ten Thousand-Day War at Sea: The US Navy in Vietnam, 1950-1975.” The new exhibit is scheduled to open on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 10am. (US Navy Video by Max Lonzanida/Released).
