General Gorenc Visits Ben Guerir Air Base

U. S. Africa Command is committed to maintaining a strong military relationship with our partners in the continent. Air Force Staff Sergeant Will Bracy went out with a group of airmen who fly with our partners in West Africa.

This is the first year the Air Force participated in exercise African Lion in the Kingdom of Morocco. The exercise emphasizes the strong military bond between the countries, and enhances the ability to operate together. General Frank Gorenc (gore-ents), the USAFE (you-safe) AFAfrica (aff-africa) Commander, explains why training with the Royal Moroccan Air Force is important.

We don’t know what challenges are going to be presented to us in the future, but when those challenges are presented, it sure would be great, uh, to be able to be interoperable, and to develop an effective capability from the air.

The exercise includes guard and reserve units from other bases working together.

Gen Gorenc: (00:41:23)
It’s very very important to act as a total force, to get members of our total force out into the field, and do the same things that the active does, and that we do it in a unified way.
