Allied Spirit Airborne Insertion
U.S. Army Europe and Africa
June 10, 2020 | 0:52
Capt. Robyn Haake, commander, 49th Public Affairs Detachment, 82nd Airborne Division, explains the significance of an airborne operation being conducted by 500 Polish army soldiers with 6th Airborne Brigade. The 500 paratroopers moved on to creating a secure area during a joint Polish and U.S. forces river crossing. Exercise Allied Spirit, a DEFENDER-Europe 20 linked exercise, originally scheduled for May, takes place at Drawsko Pomorskie Training Area, Poland, June 5-19. Approximately 6,000 U.S. and Polish Soldiers are taking part in the exercise. The modified exercise will test a division-sized unit’s ability to conduct a deliberate water crossing, integrate with alliance capabilities, and establish a common intelligence operational picture. For more information about Allied Spirit and DEFENDER-Europe, visit www.eur.army.mil/DefenderEurope. (U.S. Army Video by Pfc. Kaden D. Pitt, 7th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment)
