Happy Veterans Day 2020
382nd Public Affairs Detachment
Nov. 10, 2020 | 4:51
In the summer and fall of 1944, the 30th Infantry Division "Old Hickory" played a key role in the defense and breakout of allied forces in the Normandy, France region. The 30th Inf. Div.'s heroic stance and victory at the Battle of Mortain, in Aug. of 1944, earned the Division the Presidential Unit Citation. Today, the North Carolina Army National Guard has over 45 units across multiple battalions and brigades who trace their honors and lineage back to the 30th Infantry Division of WWI and WWII. This Veterans Day we thank all Past and Present North Carolina National Guard Veterans as well as our fellow service members in all branches of the United States Armed Forces, but especially we thank and honor the surviving Veterans of WWII's 30th Infantry Division - The Heroes of Old Hickory!
