At KSO Everyones a Winner
18th Wing
Nov. 8, 2016 | 1:13
With over 50 events and thousands in attendance, its easy to get overwhelmed at the Kadena Special Olympics and thats where the athlete buddy comes in. Jose Valasquez - “I got matched with an athlete named Teisan who is a special needs kid and he was doing the 50 meter dash and the 30 meter dash and the soccer skills. A1C Thomas Barley - Teisan has participated in the Kadena Special Olympics for 5 years and like years past, all his hard work and dedication leading up to the event resulted in a big payoff for both the athlete and the volunteer. Jose Valasquez - “I was pretty happy at the fact that he was happy. It was more happiness because of his happiness that he actually won and I was pretty excited that he had won those medals.” Teisan Scarborough - “2 for participating and 2 for winning both being silver medals. I feel great!” A1C Thomas Barley - With the amount of athletes that participate at the Kadena Special Olympics, not everyone gets to stand on the pedestal, but with the help of a buddy, everyone goes home a winner. A1C Thomas Barley, Kadena Air Base, Japan
