National Guard Soldier Awarded Soldier's Medal

Secretary of Defense, Honorable Ashton Carter, Vice Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Paul Selva, Chief, National Guard Bureau, Gen. Frank J. Grass, CMSgt Mitchell Brush, and additional senior leaders recognized three individuals at the Pentagon, in Washington, DC September 18, 2015 for their heroism in thwarting a European train terror attack that stopped a gunman on a train outside of Brussels last month. The Soldier's Medal was presented to Oregon Army National Guard Soldier, SPC Alek Skarlatos. The Airman's Medal was awarded to Air Force A1C Spencer Stone and he was also presented the Purple Heart. The Medal for Valor was also presented to Mr. Anthony Sadler.
