115th Anniversary of Grafenwoehr Training Area
7th Army Training Command
June 13, 2025 | 1:37
For 115 years, Grafenwöhr Training Area has been a cornerstone of military readiness, partnership, and innovation. Established in 1910 by the Royal Bavarian Army and used by U.S. forces since 1945, Grafenwöhr has grown into one of the most advanced and strategically important training areas in Europe. Today, the 7th Army Training Command is the U.S. Army’s largest overseas training command, which enables readiness for U.S. Army Europe and Africa forces, NATO allies, and partner for peace nations. Readiness is our number one priority—we deliver trained, equipped, and combat-ready forces for any global mission. Grafenwöhr Training Area promotes interoperability and modernization, preparing U.S and multinational forces to fight and win in a near-peer environment. For decades, the U.S. Army has been working with our German partners to protect and conserve the environment while undertaking important military training here. Throughout it’s history, Grafenwöhr Training Area has stood for strength, shared commitment, and enduring partnership—with deep bonds to the local community. Grafenwöhr—115 years of tradition, transformation, and trust. Readiness first, train to win!
