US Army Europe Best Warrior Logo

U.S. Army Europe and Africa, along with our NATO and Partner Allies, annually host a Tank Challenge. This training event is designed to give participating nations a dynamic and productive environment in which to foster military partnerships, form Soldier-level relationships, and share tactics, techniques and procedures.

The European International Tank Challenge was formerly known as the Strong Europe Tank Challenge. Images, video and stories that are older will appear under that name further down the timeline.

U.S. Army Spc. Amber Fairclough, an ammunition specialist, and Pvt. Christian Hunter, petroleum supply specialist, with the 6th Attack Recon Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, fill the fuel tank on a CH-47 helicopter at Stefanovikeio, Greece, Jan. 21, 2019. Hunter cross-trained Fairclough on how to properly conduct fueling operations, a task which is not normally performed by ammunition specialists.
"I'm not a fueler but, because I transport ammo in a heavy vehicle, I'm interested in learning how the fueling process works," said Fairclough.
Regionally allocated forces conduct maintenance regularly to maintain readiness and lethality, and participate in future training exercises with partners and allies. (U.S. Army video by Staff Sgt. Kris Bonet)
