AvengerCon VIII: Information Operations Tactics of "Pig Butchering" Scam Rings

Synopsis:

A multi-billion dollar business for Chinese organized cybercriminals, "pig butchering" scams use an increasingly complex web of hacked and repurposed or fraudulent social media profiles, detection and geolocation evasion tactics and well-scripted emotional appeals to swindle victims out of their life savings globally. This talk will detail the known tools, techniques and practices uncovered over 2 years of research into these scams' operations.
