On July 26, 2021, the Miami Air and Marine Branch launched a Multi-Role Enforcement Aircraft (MEA) to conduct maritime border security patrol. At approximately 10pm EST, the MEA crew detected a sailing vessel southeast of Key Largo, traveling Northwest without navigation lights. southeast of Key Largo, FL. The aircrew observed multiple people on board the rustic sailing. The MEA crew maintained visual and radar contact with the vessel and provided intercept coordinates for U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Cutter Isaac Mayo. USCG Cutter Isaac Mayo intercepted the sailing vessel 110 NM SE of Key Largo and reported 14 Cuban migrants were taken aboard the Cutter.
