OPERATION TALON LIGHTNING - Airload Operations (Part 3 of 3)
94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command
March 8, 2022 | 3:57
Soldiers and Airmen conduct airload operations as part of OPERATION TALON LIGHTNING, the first operational test of THAAD's remote launch capability. This operation saw a THAAD launcher relocate via C-17 Globemaster III from Andersen Air Force Base on Guam to the CNMI island of Rota, approximately 50 miles north of Guam.
After arriving on Rota, the THAAD launcher was emplaced, and a signal was established linking it back to the Tactical Fire Control Center (TFCC) and x-band radar array at Andersen. Rota residents had the opportunity to visit the site and learn more about how the Army contributes to the defense and security of the region.
