Georgia Air Guard 116th Civil Engineers partner with Armenia for humanitarian project

U.S. Army Europe Commander, Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges and Kansas National Guard Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Lee Tafanelli, visit Yerevan Elderly Institute No. 1 to view progress of a renovation being conducted by the 116th Civil Engineer Squadron, 116th Air Control Wing (ACW), Georgia Air National Guard, in partnership with Armenian contractors in Yerevan, Armenia, May 23, 2016. The project is being completed through the European Command Humanitarian Civic Assistance program. During the project, civil engineers from the 116th ACW and a structural craftsman from the 461st ACW worked in partnership with the Armenian people to renovate the Yerevan elderly institution. The renovation provided crucial skill-set training for the civil engineers while continuing the long-lasting friendship between the Armenian people and the citizens of the United States.
