Michigan Engineer Soldiers Learn Latvian Vehicles
Michigan National Guard
Oct. 2, 2014 | 1:05
Engineers from the Michigan Army National Guard’s 177th Military Police Brigade got the chance to ride in, and drive, a rather unique vehicle. The soldiers are in Latvia this week, participating in Operation Silver Arrow, a multinational training exercise led by the Latvian military in conjunction with United States Army-Europe and Operation Atlantic Resolve.
The tracked vehicle is a standard in the Latvian inventory, and learning to drive it is just one part of the larger goal of learning and teaching as much as possible in a short period of time.
The soldiers here have conducted exchanges such as these since the beginning of Michigan’s state partnership with the Latvian military more than twenty-one years ago.
Silver Arrow continues through October fifth, after which the Michigan soldiers will prepare for their return home.
