Coast Guard Medevacs 35-Year-Old Man From Cruise Ship off North Carolina Coast

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 35-year-old man Tuesday from a cruise ship approximately 180 miles east of Nags Head, N.C.
Rescued was Brent Killian.
The captain of the 965-foot cruise ship Norwegian Gem notified watchstanders at the Fifth District Command Center at 2:21 p.m. stating Killian was is in medical distress.
Coast Guard watchstanders launched crews aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and an HC-130 Hercules from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., to assist.
The helicopter crew arrived on scene at approximately 5 p.m., hoisted Killian and took him back to the air station. Killian was then transferred to an ambulance crew who took him to Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City.
The man was listed in stable condition.
