Shifting U.S. Troops to Europe to Defend Frontline NATO States
U.S. Army Paratroopers assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division walk to their aircraft at Pope Army Airfield, N.C. Feb. 14, 2022. In coordination with the Polish Ministry of Defense and Polish government the nearly 2,000 Soldiers are deploying to support the United States’ decision to increase its presence and activities in Europe as part of strong and unremitting commitment to our NATO Allies and partners.

USEUCOM commander reinforces commitment to NATO Alliance
U.S. Air Force Gen. Tod D. Wolters, commander of the U.S. European Command, greets U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Christopher T. Donahue, commander of the 82nd Airborne Division, upon arriving to Rzeszow, Poland on February 10, 2022. The 82nd Airborne Division is deploying in support of U.S. European Command to assure our Allies and partners in the region and deter any future aggression.

2d Cavalry Regiment Deploys to Romania
Soldiers assigned to 2nd Cavalry Regiment prepare Stryker vehicles to deploy from Rose Barracks, Vilseck, Germany, Feb. 08 to Romania as part of the reinforcement mission in support of our NATO Allies and partners. The 2CR will augment more than 900 U.S. personnel already in Romania in support of Atlantic Resolve. This move is in responds to the current security environment and to reinforce the deterrence and defensive posture on NATO’s eastern flank.

U.S. Support Troops Arrive in Poland
Paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division make their way to the terminal after deplaning a C-17 Globemaster aircraft at Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, Poland Feb. 6 in support of the European Deterrence Initiative. This movement was two days after the Pentagon announced the United States would send 1,700 extra troops to Poland and approximately 1,000 more to Romania in order to reinforce NATO's eastern flank amid the West's standoff with Russia over Ukraine.
