A new plaque honoring Lt. Gen. James Gavin, former commander of the 82nd Airborne Division, was unveiled during the Iron Mike ceremony near the La Fiere Bridge in Normandy, France June 9, 2019. Gavin jumped into Normandy with the division on June 6, 1944, and assumed command of the division on Aug. 8, 1944.
